Guru Dutt's sister Lalita Lajmi's sad demise at 90!

Lalita Lajmi, a veteran artist, passed away on February 13 at the age of 90. She was the sister of Guru Dutt, a filmmaker, producer, and actor. Jehangir Nicholson Art Foundation posted about her tragic passing on social media. The late artist also appeared in Taare Zameen Par with Aamir Khan. She made a noteworthy appearance. She was referred to be a "self-taught artist" in the Jehangir Nicholson Art Foundation's official account.

The note read, "We are deeply saddened by the news of artist Lalitha Lajmi’s passing. Lajmi was a self-taught artist with a keen interest in classical dance. Her works had an element of melancholy and performance, seen here in her artwork, ‘Dance of Life and Death’." They also posted her pic from the Akbar Padamsee exhibition opening, in 2020 and one of her artworks.

Soon after the news was posted on social media, netizens were seen mourning her demise. A user wrote, "a lovely human being and sensitive artist ... i learnt a lot from lalitha ... may she rest in peace." Another user wrote, "I went to her exhibition like 3 days ago.. deeply saddened." Others were seen dropping broken heart emojis.

Lalita Lajmi's work was influenced by the Indian films directed by her brother Guru Dutt, Satyajit Ray, and Raj Kapoor.
